Healthy Chocolate Brownie Recipe | Tanya Burr

Hey guys! I'm really excited to share this delicious brownie recipe with you! I've created this recipe myself using healthier, more natural ingredients than a traditional brownie and they are the yummiest brownies I've ever eaten. Serve them to your friends and family warm from the oven with ice-cream or berries – or both! 🙂

FAQ: (there's been lots of the same questions in the comment section of this video)

'This isn't dairy-free because eggs are dairy!' – Eggs are actually not a dairy product! Dairy products come from cows, sheep, goats. Eggs come from a chicken! 🙂

'Coconut Oil contains saturated fat which is really bad for you!' – Not all saturated fat is bad for you surprisingly. It's fine if it naturally occurs like in coconut oil and it's not man-made. Read more here:

INGREDIENTS YOU'LL NEED TO MAKE MY BROWNIES:

– 1/2 cup Coconut Oil
– 300g Dark Chocolate (you can use 150g milk & 150g dark if you don't like too much dark chocolate – I love it though as I think the dark chocolate makes it taste like rich chocolate pudding!)
– 2 cups Coconut Sugar (you can replace this with regular caster sugar
or brown sugar if you want to! I just use Coconut sugar as it's better for you.)
– cap full of Vanilla Extract
– 1 cup Ground Almonds
– 1 mashed Avocado
– 1 tsp Baking Powder
– 3 Eggs

This recipe is gluten free and dairy free.

does coconut oil and sugar makes the brownie actually taste like coconut at
all? Because I’d like to try this recipie but I hate coconut flavour >.< :(

When you’re trying to eat healthily it’s still important to have treats,
and these look perfect for that!

My tip for people would be to let them cool then wrap individual pieces and
freeze them so you don’t get tempted to eat them all at once or reach for a
    naughtier treat.

Thankyou +Tanya Burr, my mum has to do it with most of her home baking so
that I don’t devour it all! xx

Only thing is there are no significant benefits (scientifically) that
coconut sugar is all that much better than regular sugar your body process
both the same and cannot differentiate

    • Tanya Burr

      May 8, 2014 at 7:53 pm

I disagree! I’ve seen many graphs and charts online which show that coconut
sugar may have the same calories as regular sugar, but it does not spike
your blood sugar levels in the same way.

+Tanya Burr Like Tanya said, it has a lower glycemic index than other types
of sweeteners. It’s is not as good for your blood sugar levels as agave
nectar but it is much better than regular sugar. I have reactive
hypoglycemia so I cannot eat most sugars, but coconut sugar is ok. Thanks
for the recipe Tanya. I’ll be trying it with olive oil as the sat fat in
coconut oil makes me feel really sick in large quantities, but they look
      lovely 🙂

I tried making these and unfortunately my avocado was quite large so the
brownies ended up tasting really strange. So I would definitely suggest
using a small avo or just half a large one.

    Nice! and easy 🙂

But couldn’t understand what you differentiated between coconut sugar and
    regular sugar.
I assume coconut sugar is healthier is what you mean. And what are your
thoughts for using palm sum as well instead coconut sugar. Thanks…Keep
    cooking yum yum recipes :)
